When publisher
Bram Eisenthal saw how emotionally shattered pet companions were when their
animals passed away, he thought ‘there must be a way to deal with this.’
Founding
publisher and editor of a monthly English-language periodical devoted to pets, Precious Pets, Eisenthal decided to
organize a grief group, where people who had lost pets could meet monthly under
the guidance of a certified grief counsellor. “I met Kit Racette, a grief
facilitator who was a key component of the local entity of a worldwide grief
group called Death Café, and brought up the issue of a group for people with
animals. She reacted extremely positively.”
On Wednesday, March 26, from
7 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Precious
Pets Grief Group (in conjunction with Pet Friends of Vaudreuil) will meet at
Clinique PsySante on the West
Island (943 St. Jean Blvd.)
in Dollard des Ormeaux. Based on sufficient interest,
the group will meet the last Wednesday of every month at this location. There
is a minimal charge of $10 per person, to cover the venue rental, refreshments
(coffee and tea) and snacks. “One regular reader of the paper – who lost her
cherished pet rabbit last year - will bring her famed mini-muffins to the first
session,” Eisenthal said.
The
sessions might be expanded to two hours in duration should there be demand for
lengthier meetings, and, again, based on attendance.
Interested
parties may contact Eisenthal on his cellular at 514-975-7745514-975-7745 or via e-mail at info@preciouspetscanada.com or superscribe@sympatico.ca. People are
asked to RSVP in advance if they plan to attend.

Pets is available in print and also on-line, at www.preciouspets.ca. The paper, which
